One could move to New York solely for the purpose of sampling all the varieties of wonderful cuisine, street or haute. This was one of the many things that made us say, “Yes!” to New York when opportunity showed up at our doorstep in March 2010. Since then, we’ve quickly discovered the truth in the saying that one can live in New York her entire life and not eat at the same restaurant twice. We'll talk about that on this blog.
While we love to go out and have a nice meal, we also love to cook for ourselves. We strive to become the go-to gourmet cooks in our circle of friends. New York, however brilliant in many other aspects, is not great for gourmet cooking. Kitchens are small, lacking drawers and counter space, and it seems the fire alarms are easier to trip off. We'll write about that here too.
It wasn't long after we moved in that we brought Herbie into our lives. He's a great little cat, and while Bryan was initially hesitant about having another roommate, they've quickly become best friends. He's also a bit of a foodie...as far as cats go...and is quite picky about what he eats. Although he tends to prefer meat, as you'd expect.
One night, Herbie happened upon some spaghetti that Bryan was making - it was a mushroom sauce, no meat - and he dove right in. He grabbed a piece of the spaghetti, pulled it away and took it with him to his little spot, and scarfed it down. Shortly thereafter, he was back for more. That's not something either of us would have expected, and in fact, there have been a lot of things we’ve learned about him that we wouldn’t have expected. Looking at it objectively, it seems like there’ve been many new things we've learned while cooking, eating, and living here. We’ll write about those things here too.
Thanks for reading, we hope you enjoy it!
